Easily Kill Unresponsive Windows Applications using Windows Xkill

Windows users are quite familiar with the routine. Whenever a program hangs, take the Windows Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc or Ctrl + Alt + Del -> Task Manager), find the 'Not Responding' process and hit 'End Process'.

Now, if you are someone (like us) who often works with beta version of software and have made it quite a habit to Ctrl, Shift, Escape every minute, this post is going to be a real time saver.

Deviantart user ~Solo-Dev too found the standard Windows procedure of killing frozen applications quite tedious. So he cooked up an application - Windows xKill that ports the concept of the Linux xkill to Windows.

Windows xKill is completely portable. So you just have to download and run it from any location. To kill any application, you just have to hit Ctrl + Alt + Backspace. Your mouse cursor changes to a skull and bones icon. Alt-tab to the window of the hung application and click anywhere to kill it.

Try it out. It really works like a charm. The only bummer is the red blinking skull icon that the program adds to the system tray, which is quite a distractor.
